Engelaar signs deal with Schalke 04
July 5, 2008
GELSENKIRCHEN (SW) - Dutchman Orlando Engelaar will join German Bundesliga side Schalke 04. The player will be re-united with manager Fred Rutten.
Rutten recently made a move to Schalke from FC Twente, which was also the club where Engelaar became one of the stronger players in the Dutch Eredivisie this season.
The Rotterdam-born midfielder, 28 years old, began his career at NAC Breda in 2000. Four years later he left the Netherlands for the first time to join KRC Genk and in 2006 he signed a deal with FC Twente, whom he helped to clinch a Champions League preliminary round spot for next season.
It is unknown how much Schalke will be paying for the player, who formed part of the Dutch squad for Euro 2008.

Ajax show interest in Pavlyuchenko
July 3, 2008
AMSTERDAM (SW) - Ajax Amsterdam want Russian striker Roman Pavlyuchenko. This was revealed on Wednesday although technical director Danny Blind had mentioned his interest in the player before.
Pavlyuchenko (26) began his career at Rotor Volgograd and is now in his sixth season at Spartak Moscow. In 2006 and 2007, he became top scorer of the Russian Premier League.
Ajax are looking for a replacement for Klaas Jan Huntelaar, who is likely to leave the Amsterdam Arena for next season.
"Both sides had the intentions to extend the contract but the differences are too big right now to continue negotiations," said Blind about Huntelaar.
Pavlyuchenko is reportedly worth a transfer free of fifteen million Euros. It’s everything but a done deal to Ajax as top clubs as Chelsea, Arsenal and Celtic declared their interest in the forward as well.

Tomasson to return to Feyenoord
July 2, 2008
ROTTERDAM (SW) - Danish striker Jon Dahl Tomasson will be returning to Dutch side Feyenoord Rotterdam. This was announced by a local television channel on Tuesday.
Tomasson will be making the move from Spanish Primera Division team Villarreal, where he stood no chance in a battle with players as Nihat Kahveçi, Guille Franco and Giuseppe Rossi.
The now 31 year old forward played for Feyenoord before from 1998 to 2002, and helped the team winning the UEFA Cup in his final season.
AC Milan signed the player in 2002 and Tomasson would score 22 goals in 75 appearances.
After two seasons at VfB Stuttgart, from 2005 to 2007, Tomasson went on to spent the last season at Villarreal where he scored a relatively low amount of seven goals in 36 appearances.

PSV goalkeeper Gómes joins Tottenham Hotspur
June 27, 2008
Gómes will be making the move from PSV Eindhoven, where he helped the team to win four consecutive Dutch league titles and reached the semi finals of the Champions League in 2005.
But internal conflicts, with chairman Jan Reker to be precise, made the Brazilian decide to try his luck elsewhere.
Tottenham Hotspur reportedly pay nine million Euros to bring the talented keeper to White Hart Lane. This is five million less than what was mentioned in Gómes’s transfer clause.
The now 27 year old Gómes joins PSV Eindhoven from Cruzeiro in 2004 and went on to make 118 appearances for the Dutch side. He also represented Brazil seventeen times.
Most likely candidate to replace Gómes at PSV is Swedish goalie Andreas Isaksson, who is currently second choice at Manchester City.

Transfer Updates
June 13, 2008
I wonder if there is any other leauge that consistenting has the volume of rumours regarding departing players that the Eredivisie has. The nature and status of the league basically assures us that all top and emerging talent will be the subject of constant exit rumours.
Instead of being part of the problem I’ve decided to perpetuate those rumours, so here we go.
FC Twente have already been busy following their successful Champions League surge. That doesn’t mean they’ll be keeping their manager or their influential players. In fact both former manager Rutten and newly minted Oranje Engelaar are headed to Shalke. Moving in to FC Twente is midfielder Chiek Tiote from Anderlecht in Belgium. Oh and in case you’ve missed it Steve Mclaren has been rumoured to be taking over at Twente.
Also reportedly making the move to Shalke is PSV’s Jefferson Farfan. In a twist Oranje striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink will NOT request a transfer from Celtic. It seems unusual for a player to stick with a club despite offers from perhaps more attractive clubs.
Ajax news now: After all the garbage, the lies, the spies and James Bond-esque impersonations of agents golden boy Klaas Jan Huntelaar has admitted that moving to Real Madrid wouldn’t be so bad after all. You have to feel for Ajax blogger Matt, this is going to be one of those transfer sagas that drags on and on, in the end leaving supporters bitter and exhausted. Imagine a Madrid side consisting of van Nistelrooy and Huntelaar supported by Drenthe, Sneijder and Robben. That would never happen but what is bad news for the Amsterdammers could be good for the Oranje. Lastly Demy de Zeeuw would be pleased to join Ajax according to his dad. I wonder if Ajax would be interested if de Zeeuw keeps warming the bench.
That’s all for now!
